The good, the bad, and the butterfly - my first year with Raku

Márton Polgár — 20 minutes

As my first anniversary of starting with Raku approaches, I thought it would be good to make a summary of my thoughts and experiences, both trying to follow the chronology and pinpoint certain things that I think can be equally important to newcomers and core members of the Raku community.

A little pondering about the target audience of the language, potential issues, topics that might be overlooked in my opinion; education, and how to feel about all this.

Spoiler alert: containers and assignment working with different container types will definitely show up a couple of times, and there might be a slight mention of the Code of Conduct as well, and how Raku can be surprisingly predictable and unpredictable at the same time.
